3 Ways to Spend Opening Day of Football Season

9:38 AM

The official start to the National Football League is this weekend!  The team dock flags are beginning to fly, the team jerseys are being pulled out of the closet, your favorite team hat is sitting out ready for Sunday, and fans begin to plan the appetizers they will have for the big game.  We have compiled 5 ways to spend the opening day of football season.

HEAD TO THE STADIUM

There’s nothing better than watching the game in person if you have tickets.  The excitement in the air during tailgating will have you in football mode in no time.  As you look across the parking lot with your favorite team flag flying, families enjoying bar-b-que, games of corn hole, and drinks flowing, you can feel the excitement begin to take over your body.  As you walk into the stadium for the first game of the season and seeing your team warming up on the field, you just know that this game will be one to remember.  You can’t beat the anxious feeling of your team receiving the football with the possibility of running it back for a touchdown.  The crowd noise in the stadium is off the charts, as everyone around you is cheering for their team.  At half time, you can run to one of the many establishments in the stadium to grab a bite to eat along with a cold beverage.  As the game hits the 4th quarter, all you can hope for is a win.  Being at the game in person is most likely the first choice for any fan to watch the first game of the season.

HEAD TO A SPORTS BAR

If you plan on heading to a sports bar to watch the big game, always call ahead to make sure the game you are wanting to watch will be playing at the bar.  It’s also not a bad idea to make a reservation if you will be meeting friends there.  If they don’t take reservations, show up early to ensure that you have the best spot to watch the big game.  Since it is the first game of the season the bar is likely to be packed.  So, if you plan on eating, I would go ahead and order early in the game so you can grab your food ahead of the crowd.  Remember you are in a sports bar so it will be loud and there will likely be several different fans cheering on different teams.  Don’t get frustrated, enjoy the comradery associated with the game of football.

INVITE FRIENDS OVER AND WATCH THE GAME AT HOME

Many fans prefer inviting friends over to watch the first game of the season.  This could be the most enjoyable way to watch the game, if you don’t love being around a large crowd of people.   Appetizers are a must!  Favorites to serve are wings, ribs, and nachos.  It’s always nice to throw in a few healthy options, as well.  Make sure you have plenty of seating and the game can be viewed from every seat in the house.  Of course, beverages are also a must when watching the game from your living room.  Kick back and enjoy a day with your friends and family.
