5 Mishaps that can Ruin a Day of Boating

Imagine This...
It’s Saturday morning, the cooler is full of beverages and food for the day, the kids all have their life vests on, the boat is clean and ready to roll out for a day of fun. Walking down to the dock everyone’s eyes are smiling thinking of spending a full day tubing, coving out, and cruising the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. Dad hits the Firstmate Remote Control and lowers the lift… Everything is going perfectly, cooler is loaded, kids are in the boat, the boat starts up and dad backs the boat out of the slip… smiles from everyone in the boat.

Mishap #1 is coming soon, wait for it…
The boat is cruising along and suddenly, the tube flies off the back of the back, (the rope broke) hits a wavebreak and deflates. The kids are crying, mom is screaming, and dad with the look on his face, turns the boat around and heads back to the dock. Luckily, with the Firstmate Remote Control heading back to the dock to pick up the spare isn’t such a chore. The lift is lowered, mom jumps out of the boat grabs the other tube and rope and connects it to the boat.

Back in the boat and off the family goes… mishap diverted. They boat to their favorite tubing cove; the kids jump on the tube and off they go. Jumping wakes, spinning, screaming, and having the time of their lives. One fall after another, they keep getting back on the tube, always wanting more.

Can you feel it? Mishap #2 is just around the corner!
As they are having the time of their lives, 2 of the kids bump heads. The parents think, a little bruise never hurt anyone. Get back on the tube kids, but little Jimmy is screaming, so Mom has him come back into the boat. Mom notices Jimmy does have a bump forming on his head, so they decide it’s time to stop tubing for a while. Everyone is back in the boat, the tube has been secured, and the family decides to find a quiet cove to enjoy the lunch mom had packed.

The family finds the perfect spot to drop anchor and relax for a while.  Mom prepares sandwiches for all the kids and they sit down to enjoy their lunch. After waiting their 30 minutes to let their food settle the kids all jump in the lake to enjoy some swimming. As the parents sit on the boat and watch the kids, Dad decides when he gets back to the dock he will do some fishing with the boys. After an hour or so, everyone gets back in the boat to go on the next adventure. Dad tries to start the boat…

Mishap #3
The battery is dead! Luckily the family is prepared with a battery charger in the cuddy. After charging the battery, the boat started right up, and they started the process to pull up the anchor… Once again, a snag in their plans!

Mishap #4
The anchor is stuck, he puts the boat in reverse, now forward, the anchor is not budging. After minutes turned into an hour, dad gives up and cuts the line. Unfortunately, for the family, the smiles have now turned into frowns and tears. What was supposed to be a day of family fun has turned into nothing but frustration. They have now decided to head back to the dock.

As they pull into the dock, Dad clicks his Firstmate Remote Control to lower the lift. Dad knows the one thing he can always count on is the ease of working his Firstmate Products. They pull into the slip, start unloading the boat, and releasing the stress of what was supposed to be the perfect day on the water. Dad asks the boy if they want to do some fishing. Dad goes to grab the fishing rods that are tucked away in dock locker...

Mishap #5
One of the fishing rods are broken. That’s when Dad decided it was time to purchase a 4 slot fishing rod holder from Firstmate. So, he went to the website and quickly ordered one. With the new fishing rod holder that will connect directly to the dock’s post, he would not have to worry about having a rod broken again in the dock locker.
