As the fall foliage starts to show and the nightly temperatures start to drop, boaters in the Midwest start to realize it’s almost time to winterize the boat for the season. Even though there are a few more days of fall boating left it’s time to call and get on the schedule to have your boat winterized or if you winterize yourself to start thinking of a day that will work for you to winterize. In this week’s blog, we will give you a few tips on winterizing your boat.    Prepare the Engine for Winterization The first thing you want to do before winterizing is to drain all the water from your engine. You do this by removing the water pump hose so there is no water left inside the pump. This is not required to do in outboard engines. This is a very important step in the process. Boaters, don’t winterize your boat just yet! The Fall Harbor Hop is this weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. Learn how you can enjoy a day on the water with friends while competing for the grand prize in this week’s blog.  Draw cards at more than 40 locations on October 12th around the Lake of the Ozarks to make a winning poker hand in the Harbor Hop. Enter at any of the Harbor Hop locations and enjoy the stops around the Lake before turning in your hand by 7 p.m. Enter the Harbor Hop by stopping at any of the checkpoints listed below. A player may enter more than once. The 1st card is drawn at the checkpoint where the hand is purchased, 6 additional cards are obtained by “hopping” to six more checkpoints drawing one card per hand, at each location. The hand is complete when the 7th card is drawn. The completed hand is turned in at the checkpoint where the 7th card is drawn. All About the Big Bass Bash Tournament

When October rolls around you will start to see the bass boats filling the Lake of the Ozarks.  Amateur anglers from around the country will compete in one of the largest bass fishing tournaments around the nation.  Our blog this week will tell you everything you need to know to participate in the Big Bass Bash fishing tournament.  Grab your fishing rods from your FirstmateControls fishing rod holder and complete for the big bucks. The Big Bass Bash is October 5th & 6th from 7 am to 3 pm each day.
